Google search engine marketing seems like it should be a simple subject. Everyone says you just need a website to start your business..."If you build it, they will come." Well, don't bet on it. At least if you don't build it the right way. Do you wonder why you don't get leads from your website? There are several reasons, but that's another topic coming soon, Web Page Designs.
Back to our topic.
There are four basic ways to get people to your website:
We're going to talk more about organic traffic that you can build through Google's search engine.
This is the ULTIMATE goal for your business to get leads. Why? Because it is the source that once people find you, and see the value you can offer them, they will keep coming back again and again.
Organic traffic happens when searchers type in a phrase related to your company, your products or your services. For example, if I am searching for a private money loan in Google, I will see a results page that first has links to websites where the companies PAID for these ads. That is the Paid Traffic way to get leads.
Below those are the organic traffic leads. These are valuable! Why, because once you write about a topic on your website, using the best search engine optimization practices, that page will bring you free traffic for life because people will search for help on that topic, and find it on the first page of Google, Bing, or Yahoo, and other search engines.
When someone does a search, most people know the ads are listed first. They do have the word, "Ad" on them :). So, while we may click on an ad that looks good, we will often go past them and look for a website that paid it's dues to the internet by earning it's way to the top, not paying it's way.
This means that many people like me, the consumer, have looked at this website enough that it gets preferential treatment from the search engines who say, "This is a good website because a lot of people like it, and we like it."
Most people who sell you a website give you a basic package of a few pages built for you, a glitzy landing page, and a few keywords and seo tips. They are static, not optimized to attract the search engines. It is only a start, and you will not get instant traffic from it. You have to have a sub-marketing plan to develop your web site traffic, and keep it coming. There are several organs of your website body that you will need to pump blood into to!
Each web page that is built has several factors that must be carefully considered and crafted for that page to rise in the search engine rankings, for it to eventually pop up on the first page of Google. Google search engine marketing works.
When I first started in real estate investing, I went to a seminar and bought a canned package of four websites because the sales pitch was sooooo good! And I should know better! I thought they had found the newest path to quick success. I, like so many others, got caught up in the moment and wanted instant success in my business. After spending the money, I found out the hard way that the best way to drive traffic to my site for long-term success was through quality content, like I had always used. And those sites did not allow me to have the access to do that.
Now, building web pages alone is not the only way to build your business. Marketing your business through your website has other facets which are discussed on other pages of my website, strategies that pump blood into those organs.
There are millions of websites that never produce a penny in revenue for their owners because they were not built to be found and "liked" by Search Engines.
Also, websites have a life of their own that must be fed and nurtured regularly to keep attracting the notice of the search engines. Google search engine marketing is necessary to building your business. You must keep your website healthy with regular nutrition in the form of quality content pages that in turn, feed your customers.
Google, and other search engines, want to see websites that are on topic and give good, solid information to searchers. So give them what they want and you will be rewarded with a steady stream of "free," organic traffic.
